When to do a Grandparent DNA Testing

Establishing a relationship between a child and a father needs DNA samples of both parties. However in the case where the father is not available to give a sample, the DNA samples of the parents of the father can be used instead. This is because part of the child’s DNA also comes from his/her grandparents. Grandparent dna testing is usually done when the father is already deceased, and a biological relationship needs to be proven. Grandparent DNA testing may require both, or just one of the grandparent’s samples.
