Installing A Wireless Network Adapter

May 28th, 2008 by admin

Installation of a wireless USB adapter is not difficult at all. A short USB cable (that usually comes with the unit) connects the adapter to the computer. These adapters usually do not need a separate power cord, reason being the same USB cable can be used to draw power from the host computer.

The USB adapter’s circuitry and wireless antenna will stay outside the computer at all times. Although on some units, the antenna can also be adjusted manually to increase the WiFi reception. The supplementary device driver software serves as a comparable function as in other types of network adapters.

In order to connect to a wireless network, your computer will require a usb wireless network card adapter. Most of the recent computers, particularly laptops, usually come with wireless adapters. Even before you use your computer, first ensure to see if your computer already has a wireless network adapter. You can easily install one if your computer has no wireless network adapter already installed.
