How Television Providers work

November 14th, 2007 by admin

All television providers work by sending electronic signals from the source to the receiver. In the old days, programs were broadcast from a tower using electromagnetic waves (like a radio) and were picked up by the antennae on top of your TV set or by the television aerial on top of your house. That’s how satellite tv service works.

Then we got cable TV, which meant that you could pay a television provider to send you programs via fibre optic cable. And because fibre optic cables can carry a large amount of signal, the choice of television program got wider.
